OBJECTIVES
A Message from Our Principal
What Are You Teaching These Kids?
How can we be sure what is true, sure, and absolute in the area of religious doctrine? So many voices are raised that claim authority in their interpretations of Scripture. Many more claim that truth is whatever you want it to be. As a result, many are heard to echo Pilate’s question, “What is Truth?”
The only voice to which we can listen with confidence is that of God himself. We are reminded in Proverbs 30:5 that “every word of God is flawless.” How are we to know whether our interpretation is correct? We can have no such assurance if it is simply our interpretation. Scripture must stand on its own merit and interpret itself.
What does this truth have to do with teaching the children at St. John’s? Everyday our teachers have the privilege to share the truth of God’s love with those that are enrolled here. From the youngest three year old to the oldest thirteen year old they learn of God’s grace for them by sending a Savior to wash away their sins. Because of God’s love for us, we are motivated to show our appreciation with our actions. This simple truth permeates every class that is taught and reinforced at every event. “So, what are you teaching these kids,” you may ask - God’s Word in its truth and purity.
