St. John's School:

Teaching God’s children about God’s world in the light of God’s Word

St. John’s Lutheran School – Nodine, MN – PreKindergarten Handbook

St. John’s School Philosophy

Each child is a precious gift from God for whom Christ lived, died, and rose again. The staff at St. John’s recognizes that parents have the primary responsibility for nurturing their children. St. John’s staff wants to work with parents to instill Christian values and morals in every student. Thank you for considering St. John’s for your child’s education.

Our goal is to help every child grow

Spiritually - by teaching what God expects of his children using the Law (The Ten Commandments) and then when a sinner repents, sharing the Good News (The Gospel) that Christ died and rose for forgiveness of our sins.

Physically - by developing fine and large motor skills.

Intellectually - by providing experiences to develop problem-solving skills.

Socially - by helping establish proper social relationships with peers and adults.

Emotionally - by teaching each child they are precious in God’s eyes, helping to develop a positive self-image, and encouraging interdependence.

Illness

Make sure that your child is well when brought to school! If your child displays symptoms such as a fever, a rash, diarrhea, etc. he/she should be kept home. If your child is not well enough to go outside to play, he/she is not well enough to come to school. If we do see evidence of ill health, your child will be removed from the general play/class area and you will be contacted to come and pick up your child. A parent or authorized emergency contact person is required to pick up the child within one hour of the time he/she is called. Thank you for thinking of the teacher and other students!

School Order

As representatives of God, the teacher and other school personnel are to be respected and obeyed. Our Lord and the congregation have given them the responsibility and authority to correct and admonish students whenever necessary. All discipline will be under the general supervision of the Youth Discipleship Committee according to established guidelines.
